I am using Windows 7 64-bit. I could not find a command that enables me to write a text file in the command prompt. Is there a command for this on Windows 7 x64? I tried edit but it is not supported by Windows 7 x64. Is there another command to do this?

There is none. EDIT is a 16-bit DOS program, and Windows 7 x64 doesn't support 16-bit applications. If you need to edit text files via the command line in 64-bit Windows, you will need to use a third party application like VIM.

EmEditor is available in both 64-bit and 32-bit builds. As you can see from the examples below, the 64-bit build runs as much as 16% to 74% faster than the 32-bit build when dealing with very large files. If you use 64-bit Windows, the 64-bit build of EmEditor is absolutely recommended! (The difference is not so significant if no large file is opened.)

The default 64-bit version of Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) that is included with 64-bit versions of Windows displays both 64-bit keys and 32-bit keys.
