I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy Studies, and I am qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (DPC, Northern Guild) and a member of the British Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors. I'm a trainee member of UKCP whilst I work to complete my MSC Psychotherapy.
I have an up-to-date DBS check and I'm fully insured. I'm also registered with the Information Commissioner's Office as a data controller, and I take my duty to keep your information private seriously.
The core model from my training is called Transactional Analysis. As with many types of therapy, it seeks to increase awareness of our different frames of mind. It was designed to help people become more autonomous, more spontaneous and better able to have meaningful connections with others.
I am also trained in Person Centred Counselling, Attachment Theory, Personality Adaptations and Working with Trauma. I integrate creative methods into my work where they serve my client's needs.
I have a special interest in the ethics of holding boundaries in therapy, especially where this intersects with underserved parts of society (e.g. those diagnosed with borderline personality disorder/ EUMD). This is the subject of my MSC Dissertation.
As part of my Diploma qualification, I have completed more than 400 hours of clinically supervised work with clients and a placement in a mental health facility.
As well as my psychotherapy qualifications, I have a degree in Classical Indian Studies (Sanskrit) and, before becoming a therapist, I worked in the UK Civil Service for over 10 years.
I believe passionately in the power of nature to heal and transform us, and I support my own mental health by getting outside as much as I can.
