Biography

I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with research interests in labor economics and public economics.  As an applied economist, I study employment cyclicality over the business cycle, labor market inequalities across socioeconomic and demographic groups, and internal migrations in Japan, United States, and China. I mainly use reduced-form estimation technique to analyze large data sets and address policy-relevant questions.

I am on the 2023-24 Job Market. Please feel free to get in touch at hesongy2@illinois.edu or hesongyang1993@gmail.com
