HERstudy has been a passion project for Dr. Alexander (Lacy). Her lab has spent 15 years studying the physiological pathways that control blood vessel function in different people with accelerated cardiovascular disease risk. This study began as she was asking her specialists about how endometriosis impacts long term cardiovascular health.  What she learned is that women with endometriosis are at about a 2x greater risk of having cardiovascular disease than women without endometriosis.  However, we know very little about why this happens, the systemic impacts of endometriosis, and how this may affect our health as we grow older.
