Endometriosis is a disease characterized at surgery by the presence of tissue similar to the lining of the uterus growing outside the uterus, causing pain and/or infertility (World Health Organization (WHO). International Classification of Diseases, 11th Revision (ICD-11) Geneva: WHO 2018). Endometriosis is a spectrum disease associated with several subtypes and clinical presentation, pain, inflammation, infertility, development of endometriosis, fibrosis and formation of adhesions, GI and other organ dysfunction (International Endometriosis Working Group 2021).
