I am Hermie Monterde (she/her). I recently completed my PhD math at the University of Manitoba under the supervision of Dr. Steve Kirkland and Dr. Sarah Plosker. I am currently a PIMS-Simons postdoctoral fellow for 2025-2027 at the University of Regina working with Dr. Karen Meagher. I am also an NSERC Canada Postdoctoral Research Award holder for 2026-2028.
My research interests lie in the intersection of combinatorics, linear algebra, and quantum information theory, particularly in the applications of algebraic graph theory and combinatorial matrix analysis to quantum information processing. My primary interests are quantum walks, graph spectra and eigenvectors, combinatorical matrices, matrix decomposition problems, and inverse eigenvalue problem for graphs. You will find more here.
I am a member of the Discrete Mathematics Research Group at the URegina. I lead a PIMS First-Year Interest Group on Quantum Walks. I organized conferences in discrete mathematics, linear algebra, applied mathematics and theoretical physics. I am involved in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives, especially in graduate student advocacy, gender equity, migrant justice and SOGIESC rights. Since 2022, I have been organizing the 05C50 Online.
Here is my CV as of Feb 2026.
