Your Privacy & Research Ethics

As professionals, researchers practise the value intrinsic to the research profession, to seek greater knowledge and understanding, and as members of wider society researchers are responsible for respecting the values of society, including not causing harm and considering the public interest.

We recognise that as well as collecting your personal data, such as your name and contact details, we will also be collating a collection of deeply personal creative pieces. We are committed to ensuring that every successful applicant is afforded the level of privacy and anonymity they feel comfortable with, over and above our obligations under data protection law.

Terms & Conditions of Participation

  • The exhibition's steering group will be deciding which submissions to use in the exhibition. We want to use as many entries as we can, but our priority will remain the safety and wellbeing of all our contributors, and we reserve the right to reject any entry during the sifting process that we feel may not meet that standard. This isn't an art competition, and no one will be judged on the artistic quality of their submission.

  • By submitting your entry you agree that we (and third party exhibition partners authorised by us):

    • may use your entry in the exhibition as we see fit, and in any and all subsequent engagement work that develops from the exhibition, or any media engagement that results from the exhibition;

    • may identify you by name and use this and the entry that you submitted in publicity, marketing and advertising for the exhibition and other connected material, unless you have indicated that you wish to remain anonymous. In some cases we may contact you for further information such as a photograph of yourself, or your social media handles, but there will be no obligation to provide these should you not wish to.

  • You must comply with the following:

    • You confirm that to the best of your knowledge and belief you own and control all the rights in and to the submission;

    • You must not include any third party material in your submission unless you have obtained permission from the rights holder for it to be included and for it to be used as set out in these terms;

    • You must not include anything defamatory, illegal, infringing, hateful, obscene or offensive in your submission;

  • We will process your personal data, such as your name, contact details, age etc (including any Special Categories personal data such as your political opinion or religious belief) which may be expressed on your Artwork) in accordance with these terms and the Data Protection Act 2018.

  • You acknowledge and agree that neither we nor any of our exhibition partners shall have any liability to you for any loss or damage arising out of the use of your submission in accordance with these terms to the extent permitted under applicable law.

  • You agree that our rights under these terms may be freely licensed and/or assigned by us.

  • These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.
