Our group delivered two oral presentations “Computational Prediction of Solvation Structure in Calcium Battery Electrolytes” and “Prediction of Carbonate Solvent Stability on Lithiated Si Anode” and presented two posters titled “Interfacial Reactivity and Thermal Stability of Molten Salt Electrolytes with FeF3 Cathode in Thermal Batteries” and “Influence of Interstitial Cluster Families on Post-Synthesis Defect Manipulation and Purification of Oxides Using Submerged Surfaces” at the 2024 MRS Spring Meeting in the United States.

Congratulations! Our research proposal has been accepted for supercomputing resources through the KISTI R&D Innovation-Support Program, which focuses on high-performance computing (HPC). We will be studying high-performance thermal batteries based on solid-state electrolytes.

We had a monthly research meeting with the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) in South Korea.
Heonjae was invited to give a talk at the 2024 Korean Ceramic Society (KCERS) Fall Meeting in South Korea. The title of the oral presentation is "Prediction of the Ammonia Cracking Mechanism for Application in Nickel Electrode-Based Solid Oxide Fuel Cells." This is an ongoing study with my group members, Seonwoo and Juyoung. We look forward to developing a more comprehensive story in the near future. I would like to thank Seonwoo and Juyoung for their contributions.
Our group delivered an oral presentation titled "Intercalation Mechanism of Solvated Magnesium Electrolytes on Spinel Cathode Surfaces" and presented a poster on "FeF3 Cathode Interfacial Reactions in Thermal Batteries" at the 2024 ECS Pacific Rim Meeting in the United States. Congratulations! The Agency for Defense Development (ADD) in South Korea has accepted our research proposal. Our investigation will focus on screening thermal battery materials and studying the interfacial reaction mechanism through the use of high-performance computing (HPC).
We are starting a collaboration with Prof. Kiho Bae (Korea Institute of Energy Technology, Kentech), and Prof. Mingi Choi (Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Seoultech) in South Korea. Together, we are interested in studying the interfacial reaction mechanism for solid oxide fuel cells with ammonia fuels. We look forward to seeing the interesting results in the near future.
