Henrique Castro is a Professor of Finance at the Sao Paulo School of Economics at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV-EESP). He received his B.A. in Mechanical Engineering at Federal University of Ceará, and M.Sc. and D.Sc. in Business from the University of Sao Paulo in 2003 and 2008, respectively. In 2014 he was a visiting scholar at Columbia Business School, in the city of New York. He completed two terms as elected Director of the Brazilian Finance Society, from 2013 to 2015 and from 2015 to 2017. He was a theme (investment and asset pricing) leader of the finance division for the ANPAD conference from 2012 to 2014. He was an Assistant Professor at FECAP Business School (2001-2003, 2007-2012), at Mackenzie University (2006-2008), and at University of Sao Paulo (2010-2019). He also taught at MBA courses at Fundação Instituto de Pesquisas Contábeis, Atuariais e Financeiras (FIPECAFI) and at Fundação Instituto de Administração (FIA). He worked as an engineer before pursuing his D.Sc. degree.
His research interests include investments and corporate finance. He is currently Associate Editor ad-hoc for the Accounting & Finance Review. He was member of the editorial boards of the Brazilian Review of Finance and the Review of Business Management. He is an ad-hoc reviewer for several journals in finance. He won a few awards for teaching excellence in undergraduate and graduate courses. He has also received an honorable mention at the Young Talent in Finance Prize awarded by IBEF-SP and KPMG.
He has taught courses in Investments, Corporate Finance, Empirical Methods in Finance Research, and Time Series Econometrics in the undergraduate, M.Sc. and D.Sc. programs. He has received financial grants and scholarships from USP, CNPq, and Fapesp.
