This programme is designed for the purpose of giving refuge to researchers in the mathematical sciences who have to leave their country of residence. The aim is not only to offer participants a safe home but also to enable them to continue their work and start new scientific collaborations. Participants will be able to attend any of the workshops and other activities at the Newton Institute. They will also be part of our outreach programme which facilitates visits to departments anywhere in the UK.
The School of Mathematics and the Hamilton Mathematics Institute at Trinity College Dublin can support a number of research internships for up to one year, in pure mathematics and theoretical and mathematical physics. These positions are open to research graduate students that are currently registered at a university or other third-level institution in Ukraine and who are now displaced by the war, providing a stipend at the standard PhD rate in Ireland. Some financial support for travel to Ireland may be available if needed. Contact: mathdep@maths.tcd.ie
Ukrainian Visitor Program is organized by the University of Sydney, Australia. The objective of the UVP is to provide a temporary safe haven for Ukrainian researchers in the mathematical sciences who are in distress due to the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army at the end of February 2022. The UVP supports these Ukrainian researchers to temporarily continue their research in a secure and welcoming environment at the Sydney Mathematical Research Institute in Sydney, Australia. Applications will be accepted via email as outlined in the UVP Terms & Conditions (March 2022) [PDF]. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. SMRI will ensure that decisions on applications are made on an ongoing and timely basis, and will provide support for expedited visa applications by successful applicants to the program.

Politecnico di Milano, together with the other Italian universities, expresses deep concern about what is happening in Ukraine. It is also willing to welcome Ukrainian students, PhD students, researchers and professors who wish to apply to our University. Please follow the link for details.
The Berlin Mathematics Research Center MATH+ is offering support for mathematicians from academic institutions in Ukraine that have recently left the country due to the ongoing Russian attack on Ukraine. The special fellowship program is an offer for refugees from Ukraine in the Berlin area that hold a master’s degree or higher in mathematics or a closely related field and have pursued mathematical research at a university or other academic institution in Ukraine within the past year (exceptions to this one-year rule may apply due to parental leave etc.). Please see how to apply here.
The Max Planck Institute for Mathematics Declares its Solidarity with the People in Ukraine: We strongly agree with the statements of the Alliance of Science Organisations in Germany, the European Mathematical Society, and the President of the Max Planck Society. We are in strong solidarity with our mathematical friends and colleagues in Ukraine. As a practical help, our guest program can offer a medium-term perspective for Ukrainian scientists.

Joint CRM-ISM initiative in support of mathematicians in distress.
Prompted by the events in Ukraine, the Centre de Recherches Mathematiques and the Institute des Sciences Mathematiques offer a program in support of mathematicians in distress due to war, oppression, and persecution. The objective is to provide a temporary safe haven to international researchers in mathematical and statistical sciences, so that they can continue pursuing their high-quality research and training goals in a secure and welcoming environment.
Applications are open to researchers at all levels, from graduate students to senior faculty. Financial support can take the form of scholarships in ISM partner universities, travel grants for participation in CRM activities, and visiting fellowships for collaboration with CRM researchers. To apply for this program, it is required to submit a cover letter explaining the particular circumstances of the application, including the specific form of support that is being applied for, and the names and e-mail addresses of three references. Indicating potential contacts among the CRM researchers would be helpful. The cover letter should be accompanied by a short (1-2 pages) description of the research and study intentions, as well as a complete CV containing a list of publications. Applications in PDF format should be sent to nominations@crm.umontreal.ca with the subject line "Support for mathematicians in distress".
