Investing in the quality of life that
makes Archdale special.
The Plan Archdale Comprehensive Plan recognizes the importance of creating a strong sense of place and improving quality of life for residents. I believe we can build on that vision by creating more opportunities for neighbors to connect, families to gather, and residents of all ages to enjoy our community.
Connecting Our Neighborhoods: Championing the preservation of our open spaces and expanding our pedestrian and greenway networks so residents can safely walk, bike, and enjoy our community.
A "Downtown Archdale" at Bonnie Place: Let's create a true municipal heartbeat by transforming the Bonnie Place area into a walkable downtown district where families can shop, dine, and gather. By partnering with local businesses, we can create inviting streetscapes and outdoor spaces that support restaurants, retail, food truck rallies, markets, artisan fairs, and seasonal events.
Investing in Creekside Park & Live Music: I want to continue upgrading our premier park by developing a dedicated outdoor concert and performance space where residents can gather for concerts, festivals, and community events.
Building a "Teen Hub": Archdale offers wonderful programs for young children and active opportunities for senior adults, but there are few places designed specifically for teenagers. I want to explore creating a Teen Hub—a welcoming space where teens can gather after school and on weekends in a safe, supervised environment. The Teen Hub could include study areas with free Wi-Fi, comfortable spaces to relax with friends, and activities such as foosball, Ping-Pong, karaoke, movie nights, and a makerspace that encourages creativity and socialization. Most importantly, I want our young people to help shape this space. By creating a Youth Advisory Board, teens will have a voice in planning programs, organizing events, and helping design a place that reflects their interests and needs.
Smart Growth &
Preserving Community Character
Growth should strengthen Archdale, not change everything that makes it home.
The Plan Archdale Comprehensive Plan provides a thoughtful framework for responsible growth that protects Archdale’s identity while preparing for the future. As we grow, we must ensure that development reflects the character of our community.
Growing Responsibly: Welcoming economic development that benefits our families while preserving our unique, small-town charm. I will encourage quality projects that strengthen our tax base while protecting the neighborhoods, open spaces, and small-town character residents value.
Infrastructure First: New development should contribute to the roads, utilities, and services needed to support it while protecting current residents from unnecessary burdens.
Supporting Local & Bringing in the New: Partnering with our existing small businesses while actively working to attract diverse new retail and restaurant options.
Protecting Green Spaces: Prioritizing the conservation of our parks, trees, and natural spaces so Archdale remains a beautiful place to live.
The foundation of a strong city is reliable infrastructure and services residents can count on every day.
Residents deserve confidence that the basics they rely on every day—safe roads, dependable utilities, effective stormwater solutions, and responsive city services—will keep pace with the needs of our growing community.
Proactive Maintenance: Ensuring our local roads, sidewalks, and community spaces are consistently maintained and improved before they deteriorate.
Smart Stormwater Solutions: Committing to smart stormwater management and protecting our local watersheds. By addressing runoff actively, we can reduce residential flooding and protect our local environment.
Responsible Utility Growth: Ensuring Archdale’s water and sewer systems are modernized and prepared to handle responsible, high-quality development without putting a strain on current taxpayers.
Safe and Smooth Traffic Flow: Advocating for targeted roadway improvements and better neighborhood connectivity to make traveling through Archdale easier, safer, and more efficient.
Ensuring our emergency responders have the tools to keep us safe, and the community partnerships to keep us connected.
I believe safety starts with strong relationships. When our police officers, firefighters, schools, local organizations, and residents work together, we create a community where everyone feels safe, connected, and supported.
Strong, Fully-Staffed First Responders: Ensuring the Archdale Police Department and our contracted fire and rescue services at the Guil-Rand Fire Department are fully funded, competitively staffed, and equipped with the modern tools they need to protect our lives and property.
Community-Focused Policing: Supporting proactive, trust-building programs like Coffee with Cops, National Night Out, and neighborhood watch associations that bring residents and officers together.
Design for Safety: Investing in physical neighborhood safety by improving local street lighting, adding high-visibility crosswalks, and enhancing pedestrian security near our schools and parks.
Prevention Through Opportunity: Partnering with our local schools, neighborhoods, and nonprofits to create positive, constructive opportunities for our youth—giving them safe outlets to grow and succeed.
I believe in practical solutions that balance individual freedoms with respect for our neighbors.
No Roosters Permitted: A strict ban on roosters in residential zones to completely eliminate early-morning noise issues. Only quiet, egg-laying hens will be allowed.
A Manageable Flock Cap: Establishing a reasonable limit on the number of hens per household (typically 4 to 6 max) to keep operations small and residential.
Strict Setbacks & Containment: Requiring coops to be located exclusively in backyards with clear minimum distance requirements from neighboring property lines.
High Sanitation Standards: Setting strict cleanliness rules to prevent odors, manage waste, and protect neighborhoods from unwanted pests.
Accountability & Enforcement: Backing these rules up with strong code enforcement, including escalating daily fines and permit revocation for those who fail to comply.
