Check It Out, The New Groove Room 3.0 Is Up And Running
The Latest addition to my Retro Collection. This is a Motorola model 5T22R-1 produced in 1957-58. This model was known as the "Dragster" and features Motorola's exclusive "PLAcir" plated circuit chassis. These were the first printed circuit boards to be in production and are a precursor to the modern printed circuits we see in all electronic components these days.
I purchased this radio online at "Everything But The House", a online estate sale site. It was in excellent shape and required very little work to refurbish. All components on the board were within specifications from the schematic. That being said, it's just a matter of time before the electrolytic "smoothing capacitors" fail which will require replacement.
As an added bonus... As part of the purchase, I received a really cool "Marval" Japanese Transistor Radio that was also in almost perfect shape.

I found a Circa 1960 Tok Electronics Co., Chicago, Il. "Commodore" record player while antiquing in Wisconsin. I purchased this record player in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin in 2017 at a little antique store.
The player has a two tube amplifier that I "rebuilt" by replacing resistors and capacitors with new equivalents.
The tubes were good and the turntable itself were in great shape but the components in the amplifier required replacing. After replacing the resistors and capacitors and a complete cleanup and lubrication, the machine works great.
I use the player to listen to my small collection of 78RPM records that were handed from Becki's family.
