Hebron Library Secures LCHIP Grant for Renovation Project
The Hebron Town Library Trustees are excited to announce the Town Library has been awarded a $100,000 grant by the New Hampshire Land and Community Heritage Investment Program (LCHIP). Hebron was awarded the grant by Governor Sununu at last month’s State House ceremony. 14 historic building and 12 land conservation projects received awards out of 45 total applications.
The purpose of the grant is to support the expansion of the library into the adjacent and vacant Memorial Chapel and to preserve the character defining historic features of the early 20th century Grange Hall and Memorial Chapel. Both buildings are listed on the National and State Registers of Historic Places.
In making the award, the LCHIP Board recognized the uniqueness and historic significance of these buildings as worthy of financial assistance. They also recognized our citizens strong public and private support for the project and Hebron’s century-long tradition of steadfast stewardship of our historic properties. And they recognized this award will help keep repurposed historic town buildings surrounding the common as integral parts of our community.
