About the Pastor
Rev. Earl W. Miller, Jr. is the Interim Minister, serving the church during this transitional time following the dedicated pastorate of John Fischer who served this church for 44 years.
Earl, as he is usually called, was born in Mississippi and grew up in Battle Creek, MI.
His education includes Kellogg Community College, Olivet College ‘66 (MI) with a BA in Philosophy; Andover Newton Theological School ’70, with a M.Div.; many continuing education courses, and lessons learned from the faithful members of United Church of Christ churches, in Plainville, NY; Canal Fulton, Ohio; Dartmouth, MA; Center Harbor & Conway, NH. Earl was certified by the Interim Ministry Network, an interdenominational training and support organization, in 2003.
Earl and Gail were married in 1968, live in Moultonborough, NH, and have two adult children, their spouses, and 7 grandchildren who range in age from pre-school to through college.
Beyond church activities, Earl enjoys archery including teaching children, canoeing having completed the General Clinton Canoe Regatta 70-mile race 20 times, hunting and fishing…again teaching youth. At the Millers’ house the birds are fed from a bear-proof deck, vegetables grow, nearly 100 varieties of daylilies blossom under Gail’s watchful eye, and the woods are managed.
Habitat for Humanity, Heifer Project, CROP, serving the UCC, locally and beyond, and church camps have all been important aspects of Earl’s ministry.
