This category is open to films under 8 minutes, graphic design, PR/Social media campaigns, podcasts, photography, and journalism. This category is open to any university or college student based in Texas.
This category is open to films under 8 minutes, graphic design, PR/Social media campaigns, yearbooks, photography, and journalism. This category is open to any high school student based in Texas (public, charter, parochial, home schooled, or private school).
The film must be under 15 minutes and must have been produced by an independent Texas filmmaker (BASED IN TEXAS). Filmmakers should serve as director of the film. International films are NOT accepted in this category.

Student Graphic Design: One award will be given for overall BEST GRAPHIC DESIGN (i.e. film posters, graphic design, or computer design not animated)
PR/Advertising Campaign: One award will be given for BEST PR/ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN. Submissions may be portfolios, links, or documents.
Journalism: One award will be given for overall BEST JOURNALISM PIECE. When Submitting, if your work is written, you can choose Script for type of work.
Photography: One award will be given for each overall BEST IN NEWS PHOTOGRAPHY, BEST IN SPORTS PHOTOGRAPHY, BEST IN FEATURE PHOTOGRAPHY, BEST IN JOURNALISM, BEST CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY.
Podcasts (single episode): One award will be given for overall BEST PODCAST EPISODE, maxiumum 20 minutes.
Narrative Film: One Award Given For Each Sub-Category Below: - Best Picture - Best Screenplay - Best Director - Best Sound Design - Best Performance - Best Editing - Best Cinematography - Best Art Direction. The project must be under 8 minutes.
Documentary Film: One Award given for BEST DOCUMENTARY FILM. Documentary films are works that capture real-life events, stories, and subjects, often with the goal of educating, informing, or sparking discussion. The project must be under 8 minutes.
Emerging Media: One award will be given for overall BEST IN EMERGING MEDIA. The Emerging Media Film category is designed to showcase innovative and forward-thinking films that push the boundaries of storytelling through new technologies and formats. Films should execute-well technical aspects such as sound design and visual fidelity. The project must be under 8 minutes.
Ex) Virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), 360-degree video, A.I. generated imagery, and other immersive technologies.
Artistic Exploration Film: One award will be given for BEST ARTISTIC EXPLORATION FILM. This category emphasize the uniqueness and artistic merit of films that defy traditional categorization, appealing to audiences looking for innovative and diverse cinematic experiences. The project must be under 8 minutes.
Animated Film: One award will be given for BEST ANIMATED FILM. This category emphasizes skills in animation and its use in motion pictures. The project must be under 8 minutes.
Music Video: One award will be given for BEST MUSIC VIDEO. Music videos are short films created to accompany a song or musical composition, often blending artistic visuals with the music’s theme, mood, or narrative. The project must be under 8 minutes.
Filmmakers: High school students submitting in this category should serve as director, editor, or camera person. One "Best Picture" award will be given to the best film submitted and judged by a jury. The film must be under 8 minutes.
Graphic Design: One award will be given for overall BEST GRAPHIC DESIGN (i.e. film posters, graphic design, or computer design - not animated).
Yearbook: One "Best Yearbook" award will be given to the best yearbook submitted and judged by a jury. Submissions may be digital formats, plans, or documents.
Journalism: One "Best Journalism" award will be given to the best journalism piece submitted and judged by a jury. If a written piece, you can choose Script for type of work.
Photography: One "Best Photography" award will be given to the best photography submitted and judged by a jury.
PR/Advertising Campaign: One "Best PR/Advertising" award will be given to the best social media campaign submitted and judged by a jury. Submissions may be portfolios, links, or documents.
