Team Members

Akash joined the group in Feb 2024 as a Research Fellow. He completed his PhD. from the Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai in Sep 2023. He is currently working on nanoscale heat transfer in the HEAT lab.

Sichao joined the group in Aug 2020 for his PhD study after obtaining his M.S and B.S. from National University of Singapore and Dalian University of Technology (China) in 2019 and 2020, respectively. He works on nanoscale heat transfer under the supervision of Prof. Sunmi Shin and also co-supervised by Prof. Guangya Zhou.

Yi-Ming joined the group in Aug 2021 for his PhD study after obtaining his M.S. and B.E. from University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Dalian University of Technology (China) in 2021 and 2018, respectively. He works on high-throughput calculations and machine learning for accelerating discovery of 2D thermoelectric materials under the supervision of Prof. Sunmi Shin and also co-supervised by Dr. Shen Lei and Prof. Zhang Chun.

Yue joined the group in Jan 2022 as a PhD student. He completed his M.S. and B.S. from the National University of Singapore and the University of California, San Diego. He is currently working on nanoscale heat transfer in the HEAT lab, under the supervision of Prof. Sunmi Shin.

An Chao joined the group in July 2025 as a Research Engineer and will be a PhD student from Jan 2026 after obtaining his M.S and B.S. from National University of Singapore and South China University of Technology (China) in 2025 and 2024, respectively. He works on micro-thermoelectric device under the supervision of Prof. Sunmi Shin.

Chaitanya joined the group in August 2025 as a Research Assistant. He is currently pursuing his MSc in Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). His research focuses on the prediction of thermal hotspots in advanced thermal management systems, particularly in heterogeneous integration chips

Zihan Wang joined the group in September 2025 as a visiting Ph.D. student. He obtained his B.E. in Energy and Power Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University (China) in 2021. His research focuses on advanced thermal management and energy conversion, particularly on the design of multifunctional heat regulation systems.

Jiahao Zhao joined the group in October 2025 as a visiting Ph.D. student. He obtained his B.E. degree from the College of Mechanical Engineering at Yangzhou University (China) in 2021. His research focuses on micro/nano-fabrication and advanced thermal management, particularly on the fabrication of micro/nano-structures for boiling heat transfer.
