WELCOME TO MY UNIVERSAL DESIGN FOR LEARNING PAGE!
Below, on the left side of this page is a sample of work that I originally created for an assignment in my class, Educational & Assistive Technology. The updated UDL Application Exercise is presented on the right. The goal of this assignment is to reach and engage a wider audience of students. The techniques that I used in the UDL presentation are: Alt Text for all images and graphics, videos with closed captioning for visual representation, animation on the slides, "text chunking" for easier reading, and the addition of visual diagram.
What is Universal Design for Learning? As written on the Reading Rockets Website, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a way of thinking about teaching and learning that helps give all students an equal opportunity to succeed. This approach offers flexibility in the ways students access material, engage with it, and show what they know. Developing lesson plans this way helps all kids, but it may be especially helpful for kids with learning and attention deficits.
Feel free to explore UDL more by visiting the Reading Rockets Website.
