I am in my second year in the Master of Teaching program at OISE. I am passionate about environmental education and art/science integration through active nature connection and community engagement.
Born and raised in Peterborough, Ontario, I was encouraged to immerse myself in nature and be creative in the outdoors from a young age. I completed my undergraduate degree at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, majoring in Biology and English. At Dal, I had the opportunity to study Tree Swallows in the Annapolis Valley and also conduct a Herring Gull and Common Eider census on Kent Island in the Bay of Fundy. My love of field work led me to pursue a Master of Science at Trent University in the Environmental and Life Sciences Program where I studied shorebird habitat use and foraging ecology on Bulls Island in South Carolina.
Throughout my life, I have been drawn to educating and engaging others in the wonders of the natural world. I am an avid reader, runner, and yogi. I hope to continue to find beauty in both science and the arts and to share this wonder with high school students in the future.
I believe that every student deserves respect, recognition, and reciprocation. In my teaching, I aspire to show students that they matter and that they will succeed in finding their passion and place in our world.
