Throughout this unit, students were encouraged to explore beyond traditional texts and both investigate and create environmentalist art that challenges convention and makes a powerful statement. We looked at diverse artists, styles, platforms, and messages in an effort to consider the influence of identity and intersectionality in climate change art and activism. We discussed the power of voice, visuals, and passion to appeal to a wide audience and instill a sense of hope in the face of climate change. Students integrated art, media, and activism into their final product with pride and determination.
