Readability

Using the Readability Test from WebFX (2023), my website, (https://sites.google.com/view/hearthealthwealth/home) “has an average reading ease of about 61.6 of 100. It should be easily understood by 11 to 12 year olds” (p. 1).

According to Ozduran & Büyükçoban (2022), “The National Institutes of Health, the US Department of Health and Human Services, and the American Medical Association reported that Internet-based PEM (patient educational materials) should be developed below the sixth-grade educational level” (para. 7).

In the United States, most children ages 11-12 are in sixth grade. This is also true in Italy. This means that my website is to the standards of The National Institutes of Health, the US Department of Health and Human Services, and the American Medical Association for patient education materials.

Although there are cultural differences between the United States and Itay, there are many similarities as well. We all want our health to be the best that it can be. We all want to be able to have easy to understand material that is accessible. We want information that helps us in our everyday life.

This website focuses on heart health because the number one mortality issue that Italy faces is cardiovascular related issues. I have included statistics to prove that this is the number one issue in Italy. Statistics are from the Italian government and are up to date as of 2023. Not only are the statistics up to date, but the source of information is credible as well.

There are several easy to read and reliable resources on this site. You will find assistance and suggestions to better eating habits. There is data and exercise suggestions to increase physical activity for heart health. Websites are listed to decrease smoking and alcohol consumption safely. Finally, the American Heart Association’s website is linked. The American Heart Association is dedicated to assisting those with heart complications for over one hundred years.
