After completing the entire learning sequence in Chapter 4, Healthy Foods, students are expected to develop their understanding and English language skills in real-life contexts, specifically regarding healthy lifestyles through procedural texts.
Specifically, the learning objectives in this chapter include the following: Understanding the social function, text structure, and linguistic elements in healthy food procedural texts, both written and audiovisual. Students will be able to explain the purpose of procedural texts, identify important parts (goal, materials, steps), and identify the use of characteristic vocabulary and sentence structures in such texts.
Using relevant vocabulary and imperative sentences accurately in the context of healthy food. Students are expected to recognize and use action verbs such as slice, boil, blend, serve and construct them into simple imperative sentences commonly used in instructions or recipes.
Composing and producing procedural texts orally and in writing, both in simple forms like "How to Make a Fruit Salad" and creative projects like a "5-Day Healthy Eating Challenge." In this process, students hone their skills in delivering instructions logically, systematically, and communicatively.
Expressing opinions orally and in writing about healthy and unhealthy foods, using expressions of opinion, suggestions, and reasons appropriate to the context. Students are expected to be able to express opinions in class discussions, answer open-ended questions, and write reflections on healthy eating patterns relevant to daily life.
Upon achieving these objectives, students will not only master the linguistic aspects of procedural texts but also develop an awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle that can be applied in real life, both at home and at school.Â
