Reiki is a type of Japanese energy healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” meaning life energy. Reiki is given by gently laying on hands over the different chakras and is based on the idea that "life force energy" flows through us.
If your "life force energy" is low, then you are more likely to get sick or feel stressed. On the other hand, if it is high, you are more capable of feeling balanced, being happy and healthy.
Everyone is different so may experience different feelings and sensations throughout a reiki session. Treatments may feel like having a wonderful glowing light that flows through and around you. Some of my clients see colours during a treatment, some experience warm or tingly sensations through their body. Others feel a sense of release or simply a deep sense of relaxation and calm.
Reiki treats the whole person including the physical body, one's emotions, the mind and the spirit, creating many benefits such as relaxation and feelings of peace, calm, safety and wellbeing.
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It can also work alongside all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
Acupressure is a safe traditional Chinese medicine practice that involves treating blocked energy 'Qi', by applying precise pressure to specific points on the body and used to help relieve the symptoms of many common disorders. It's a bit like acupuncture, except it uses finger tips, the thumbs, palm (and sometimes the elbow) instead of using needles. By improving energy flow, acupressure can help with improving things like muscle pain or headaches.
In traditional Chinese medicine, pathways of energy called meridians flow within the body. Acupressure points lie along those meridians. If 'qi' is blocked at any point on a meridian, it's thought to cause health problems along that pathway. I apply pressure to specific acupressure points to restore healthy energy flow. The points chosen depends on your symptoms.
As meridians run throughout the whole body, pressure points used may be a long way from the site of the symptom. For example, a pressure point on the foot may be used to support with relieving a headache.
