Parks Theory Differs from Fowler's in 2 Important Ways:
"Parks focused on the connection between the structure and content of faith, as well as the role of affect and imagination, while Fowler concentrated mainly on structure and symbolism in development" (Patton et al. 2016).
"Parks argued that an important stage was missing from Fowler's Theory- that of young adulthood. In this stage individuals begin the process of taking responsibility for themselves, including their faith (Patton et. al 2016).
"Fowler and Park's did not fully capture how college students struggle with religious beliefs, spirituality and triggers that prompt struggle or growth" (Patton et al. 2016).
They did not include "spirituality as it pertains to minoritized identity vs. identities that are privileged in society and on college campuses" (Patton et al. 2016).
They did not have "associated outcomes of spirituality" (Patton et al. 2016).
