Dear Students... As my past students will tell you, and future students will learn, my goal in teaching Health 100 is to help give my students the information and motivation to live a Long Happy Healthy Life! I know several of my students are only taking the course because it is required, but I promise you (yes promise!) that you will be pleasantly surprised at how beneficial the course is. This course can truly have a positive impact on your quality and quantity of life.
My Teaching Philosophy... I believe everyone should have the opportunity to participate in meaningful learning experiences where they leave feeling empowered, appreciative, energized, enlightened, and connected with others. I want to remove as many barriers as possible to your education, one way I do this is by using a FREE textbook for this course!
I absolutely love teaching Health and I hope by the end of this course you have the knowledge, skills, and tools, to lead a long happy healthy life!

The course is a fully online asynchronous course, meaning we will never meet in person and there are no required online meetings with specific times. The whole course is completed in our online classroom.
Our online classroom is offered through a Learning Management System called Canvas. Canvas is a great program that allows teachers to create a learning experience where students access course information, complete assignments, and connect with their classmates in an online space specifically developed for the course.
I teach this course in both the 8-week and 16-week format. Both formats include 16 modules of learning; module 0 is our "Getting Started" module, which will prepare you for success in the course, and Modules 1-15 cover each of the 15 chapters of our FREE health textbook. If you are taking the 8-week course, please note that the course has the same workload as the 16-week course just half the time, so you are completing two modules per week.
