Biography
Hyeong-Dong Kim, PT, Ph.D., is a Director of Research Institute of Health Science in College of Health Science in Korea University and a Professor in the Department of Health Science (a Major in Rehabilitation Science) in Graduate School and School of Health and Environmental Science in College of Health Science in Korea University. Prior to coming to Korea University, he held an academic position at Catholic University of Daegu. Currently, he conducts research in the areas of Biomechanics and Motor Control & Motor Learning. He also had several years of clinical experience as a Physical Therapist in various clinical settings such as Hospital, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Home Health Care Centers in Florida, US.
Dr. Kim’s research focuses on understanding the complex interplay between the nervous system and the musculoskeletal system during whole body movements such as gait and posture. Most of his work is strongly related to clinical interventions and its outcomes with particular emphasis on movement impairments. His research interest also includes application of AI, IT, and IOT to physical therapy, rehabilitation therapy, and exercise science.
He was an Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in College of Health Science in Korea University and has leadership position (editor) in the Korean Society of Physical Medicine. His work has been funded by grants from the Korea Research Foundation and Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources of Korea.
