NJ Appleseed (NJA) is a non-profit public interest corporation. Their advocacy areas include: Empowering voters, Healthcare, Government & Corporate Accountability and Community & Environment Health. Princeton graduate and Harvard Law graduate, Ralph Nader, is the Founding Member of NJA.
Appleseed was founded by Ralph Nader. NJ Appleseed is a part of the multi state network of the national Appleseed organization. Arthur Kinoy and Renee Steinhagen founded NJ Appleseed in 1998.
Mr.Nader had a long history of standing up for those without a voice. NJA is his way to reach out and help the disenfranchised.
Taken from the NJ Appleseed website, "Another founder, the distinguished legal scholar Arthur Miller, a longtime Harvard Law professor now at New York University School of Law, has written: “I don’t think any of us in that original group–in our wildest optimism–could have anticipated Appleseed would have developed this way. It was a group of friends who had an idea of how to utilize the talents of accomplished lawyers for the public good.”
FBW honors Renee Steinhagen at Oct 20 event

On October 20, Renee Steinhagen was honored with the 4th annual FBW Riparian Award at its Connect the Waterfront annual fundraising party. This event will took place at the Kolo Klub in Hoboken.
Renee litigated Moore et al. v. Radburn Associations, both in the trial and appellate courts (Chapter 106 referred to as “Radburn Law”) and in the late 1990’s she represented homeowners who held an easement right to access Upper Greenwood Lake and thus were responsible for a fair share assessment but had no representation on the board of the association.
Renee is also co founder and executive director of NJ Appleseed, a part of the national non profit Appleseed started by Ralph Nader. Additionally, Renee has worked with Distinguished Professor Frank Askin, a retired professor at Rutgers Newark law school for 50 years who has a Wing named after him and his wife at the campus. (Prof Askin was also given his award at Rutgers by Ruth Ginsburg. She taught at Rutgers at one time.) Renee has involvement with some very reputable people.
I think there is a lot to be said about the type of lawyer/person Renee is, one that is doing things in the interests of what is right and it’s not about the money.
