About Mrs. S
Growing up I had two passions - horses and music - I have been lucky enough to be able to enjoy both throughout my life. Very early on in life, I knew that I wanted to pursue becoming a band teacher. After graduating from Hartford I attended SUNY Adirondack (ACC) earning an AS in Music. I then began attending SUNY Fredonia School of Music where I earned my BM and MM in Music Education. I studied saxophone while attending college, but my first instrument in fifth grade was the flute. Throughout my high school and college career I was a member of the Hartford Community Band and began playing with the Lake George Community Band in 2011. I am still an active member of the LG Community Band as the sole bassoonist. I began my teaching career in Hartford where I was the band director from 2012 through June 2017. I then taught a variety of grade levels in Hudson Falls for four years. I am happy to be back in Hartford!
Outside of school my hobbies include hiking, horseback riding, and gardening. I live in Schuylerville with my husband, our two Tennessee Walking Horses, and our Springer Spaniel. We are trying to see as many National Parks and Forests as we can and enjoy long distance trail riding & camping all over New England with the horses.
