Students Teach AReas of Science (STARS) is a program that brings high school volunteers from Hunter College High School (HCHS) to teach a group of HCES between Grades 2 and 4 students fun, hands-on lessons about different areas of science. Each of our sessions includes a short mini-lesson about the weekly topic as well as a science experiment or activity that encourages scientific thinking and collaboration with peers. We have spent the past four years volunteering with PS1 in downtown Manhattan, and are so excited to transition the program to HCES.
