Sophie is interested in access to the sciences, primarily through journalism and education. She has been a member of STARS since its founding, and enjoys reading and playing the cello.Â
Founder
Elizabeth Louie first had the idea for STARS when volunteering for PS1 in 8th grade. She recognized PS1 students' passion for science and wanted to use hands-on lessons to foster their curiosity and encourage their interest in STEM careers. Elizabeth enjoys reading and writing fiction, rollerblading, and finding new pastry shops to frequent.
Co-Founder
Evie Steele is passionate about science and enjoys passing her enthusiasm on to PS1 students through STARS. She enjoys reading, playing soccer, making puns, and sampling every single possible flavor of ice cream she can find.
SPECIAL THANKS
Thank you to the staff of PS1, HCES, and our HCHS advisors for their support and guidance, the HCHS PTA for funding, our high school volunteers for their time and hard work, and all the children who have participated for their curiosity and enthusiasm. We couldn't have done this without you!
