Under SB 1296, at least 50% of eligible voters must cast a ballot, and of that group, a simple majority will decide the outcome. Anyone who does not vote is effectively counted as a NO vote. Based on the latest turnout, our union would be decertified under the new SB 1296 law. The only way to bypass the new election requirements is if our membership reaches at least 60% by the SNAPSHOT date.

What’s the snapshot date? That’s the specific day PERC must be told whether HCEA has hit the 60% mark or not, and our snapshot date is December 2026.

We are currently at 46 % and need to get to 60%.
