Your Guide to All Things HCA + Measurement Based Care
"MBC takes a lot of the mind-reading out of our jobs...This isn't just the first 30 minutes of the treatment team, but this is who we are."

Telehealth and the Feedback Report: A Chat with Chris from Pulaski and Mary from Columbia
How can you use Mirah to communicate in telehealth sessions?
As you are doing more sessions using telehealth due to COVID precautions, program directors have been asking us how Mirah can help make telehealth more effective. As you know, the Mirah measures help clients and caregivers communicate with their clinicians, whether in person or on Zoom or Teams. But did you know how easy it is to ‘share your screen’ so you can also create that shared understanding, ask rich clinical questions, and help your clients and caregivers see progress with Mirah clinical feedback reports?
Last week, Chris from Pulaski talked about ‘sharing her screen’ with one of her clients. Check out our User Guides for the Share Screen option in Teams (also available in Zoom) to share Mirah clinical feedback reports with her telehealth clients.
Here’s what Chris said when she was asked about sharing screens: “I do it all the time with one of my clients. What I do is I just put the feedback report up, share my screen, and then me and the client go through everything so he can see it at the same time and look at it and understand what he’s doing, what areas need work, and where he is doing well.”
Being able to share clinical feedback reports in telehealth can be a real lifeline, since the feedback reports give you an additional way to communicate and connect, which can sometimes be difficult in the digital space (see our article on using measurement-based care in telehealth for more info). We asked clinicians about what they have found helpful using Mirah with telehealth, and here’s what two clinicians said.
Chris from Pulaski: “I’ve always done telehealth with this client - we’ve only seen each other in person once. So, when we first started in … Mirah, I asked him how he was doing with the measures, and he replied, “What are these measures?” So I shared my screen with him and pulled up the feedback report. We talked about the different questions, the percentages, and it just kind of validated that we were both on the same page.”
Mary from Columbia: “The last time I used my screen...it was really cool because the kid would ask me, ‘Hey, click on that. What does that mean?’ I was just clicking around and showing him, and he was actually being very focused and very interested in what was going on, which is saying something about this particular client. He has ADHD and autism so his focus can be all over the place. We probably spent a good 10-15 minutes just looking at the measures and what they meant, and this was after he had already finished around 4 or 5 so we could see the progress, see how his answers were changing, and his mom’s answers were changing.”
Research into effective uses of mental-telehealth practices are just beginning, and we are so excited to see what’s to come! Fueled by your dedication to serving your clients’ needs, wherever they are located, Mirah can make telehealth interactions more meaningful and connective.
