Hanbat Catalytic Materials Laboratory

Welcome to Lee's group

Catalytic materials play a rucial role in environmental catalysts, safeguarding both individual and the environment against detrimental emissions originating from industrial facilities and diverse chemical processes. Furthermore, these materials find extensive application across various domains, including hydrogen production, upcycling of waste, and energy. This usage aligns with the evolving grobal emphasis on carbon neutrality and the shift towards a more environmentally sustainable and energy efficient society.

Our research team is dedicated to advancing emerging catalytic materials tailored for the applications mentioned earlier. Specifically, our primary objective in research endeavors is to comprehend the interactions taking place at the interfaces among active species (predominantly metals), carriers (with a focus on functional oxides) and reactants. Our aim is to enhance reaction kinetics through a comprehensive understanding of these processes. We adopt multidisciplinary approaches that encompass chemical reactions, surfrace science, and (sub)nano-fabrication techniques.
