Meet the Director

Kerri Shelfo has been an orchestra director with Fairfax County Public Schools since 2003 and has 22 years of string teaching experience in grades Pre-K through university undergraduates. She graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and from the University of Maryland with a Master of Arts in Music Education. She also holds a graduate certificate from the University of Pennsylvania in Arts & Culture Leadership. Mrs. Shelfo has presented her research on bass pedagogy and teaching music to special learners at national and state conferences, as well as published articles in state and regional association journals. She was a member of the most recent orchestra curriculum writing team for Fairfax County Public Schools. When Mrs. Shelfo isn't making music with Hayfield Secondary students, she enjoys gardening, yoga, reading, and spending time with her family.
