Dear Family, Friends, and Supporters,
It’s hard to believe that in just under a month, I’ll be on my way to Africa! Now that it’s right around the corner, everything is starting to feel very real and in the best possible way.
I’ve just finished my second year of law school in Belfast, Northern Ireland, something that still feels a bit surreal to say. It’s been a year of growth and perseverance and of learning how to lean hard into God when I feel like I have nothing left to give. In a season marked by deep loss and major life changes, God has been gently rerouting my path, teaching me what it truly means to trust, surrender, and sacrifice.
And, through it all, I’ve seen God’s faithfulness like never before. He has carried me when I had no strength of my own and provided for my every need. I have been blessed with a new community in Belfast who have supported me and I continue to be upheld in the steadfast love and unwavering support of those back home.
While it hasn’t been an easy year, it has been one full of refining and full of God’s presence. As I look back on this year, I see so clearly the transformation God has done in my heart and life, and that is what gives me incredible hope as I step into this next chapter.
This isn’t just another trip or opportunity. It’s a calling that has been undeniably unfolding through months of prayer, preparation, and God’s gracious leading. From the first moment the door opened for me to go to Togo, I’ve seen God’s hand in every detail; guiding, providing, and confirming. His presence has been constant, even when circumstances felt unclear or overwhelming. And now, as I look ahead, I’m filled with strong hope—not because I know exactly what’s coming, but because I know the One who’s leading me.
Before heading out, I’ll be returning to Canada for three weeks to spend time with family, friends, and my church community. Then, on June 26th, I’ll fly to Washington, D.C., to join the four incredible girls I’ll be interning alongside. Together, we’ll travel out to West Africa where we will serve in local communities in Togo and Benin for six weeks, partnering with local ministries, engaging in hands-on mission work, and being mentored by long-term workers already in the field.
After our time in Africa, we’ll travel to Florida for a two-day debrief, joining with other teams who have spent the summer doing mission work around the globe. It will be a space to reflect, rest, to share stories, and to process and celebrate all that God has done.
Funding Update & Prayer Requests
Thanks to the generosity and support of so many of you, I’m currently 92% funded. A HUGE answer to prayer! God has provided so faithfully every step of the way, and I’ve truly felt covered by your prayers and encouragement.
Here’s how you can continue to support me in prayer:
Safe travels — to Canada, Africa, U.S and back
Grace in adjusting to culture shock, language barriers, and spiritual darkness
Team unity, boldness, and wisdom as we serve
Completion of full funding and continued engaged prayer support
Open hands and a heart fully prepared and surrendered for the work ahead
My Heart
More than anything, my desire is to go with open hands. I’m believing for transformation, not just in the places I’ll go, but in my own heart too. I want to be fully present. I want to be poured out. I want to carry the love of Jesus in tangible ways and to come back with stories of His faithfulness.
So as I prepare, I wait with eager anticipation and hope, not just for what God might do, but for what He’s already doing. Hope because even in the unfamiliar, His goodness is not; it remains unchanged.
Thank you to each of you who has prayed, supported, encouraged, and walked with me thus far. I’m so deeply grateful for your partnership, and that I get to share my life with you as this next chapter unfolds.
With love and gratitude,
Haydn
