Portrait Sketch

I thought of this idea when I was thinking about doing a more professional social media profile. I was thinking of trying to get a solid background, but it eventually turned into making it look more like a drawing of one of my pictures.

Photoshop Skills Used:

  • Gaussian Blur Adjustment

  • Adjustment Layers Tools (Brightness / Contrast)

  • Select Object Tool

  • Masking Tool

Design:

  • Contrast: I chose a solid dark background against my image that is all white, making it stand out even more.

  • Repetition: I was thinking about making part of my body looked pencilled and another part be the original photo, but I couldn't figure out what would look the best, so I decided to keep the consistency of having the entire image look pencilled.

  • Alignment: My eyes are centered and my head is a little above the top third of the image.

  • Proximity: N/A

Revisions from Original:

For my revision, I decided to crop the image so that there wasn't any tangent lines on the side where my arm connects with the side of the image. I also did what I could to try and clean up the glow around my head and sharpen the image up a little bit. Lastly I added a drop shadow to make me pop a little bit more.
