At Colorado Hawks Soccer, our coaching staff is dedicated to developing confident, creative, and competitive players in a positive learning environment. With experience spanning youth development, collegiate soccer, and high-level competitive play, our coaches are passionate about teaching the game the right way while helping every player grow both on and off the field. We believe in building strong relationships, fostering a love for soccer, and creating an atmosphere where players can thrive, compete, and enjoy the journey together.
Nathan Bergland
Nathan has been involved in soccer since the age of five, playing competitively through high school and developing a lifelong passion for the game. Over the past approximately 10 years, he has coached recreational youth soccer with both Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club and the Hawks Football Club, focusing on player development, confidence building, and creating a positive environment for young athletes to grow.
Nathan believes in teaching the game the right way by emphasizing technical skills, game awareness, work ethic, teamwork, and a love for competition. His coaching style focuses on helping players grow both on and off the field while building strong fundamentals that prepare them for higher levels of play.
He has completed multiple courses through the U.S. Soccer Learning Center Grassroots Coaching Pathway, including age-specific small-sided game education focused on player development and the Play-Practice-Play methodology. Nathan is currently continuing his coaching education while working toward earning his U.S. Soccer D License.
Jacqui Lorenzen
Jacqui Lorenzen has played soccer since the age of six, competing at the club level in Southern California through high school, including varsity high school soccer. Since college, she has also continued playing recreationally in adult leagues, maintaining her lifelong passion for the game.
Her love for soccer has continued into coaching, where she has spent the past four years helping young athletes build confidence, develop skills, and enjoy the sport.
Jacqui has completed U.S. Soccer Grassroots coaching education along with all required U.S. Soccer online training and SafeSport certifications. Her coaching philosophy focuses on developing a strong soccer IQ while mastering fundamentals until they become second nature, all while keeping the environment positive, supportive, and fun.
Her coaching motto is simple: “Be first to the ball.”
