Before using the heater, please read the safety warning on the side of the heater.
Fill the removable tank with kerosene from the shed. DO NOT refill the tank inside the house or whilst the heater is still hot. There is a small access panel on the top of the heater where the kerosene tank goes. Wait at least 30 minutes for the wick to absorb the kerosene. Turn the dial to ignite and light the wick using the igniter switch. If there are no batteries, manually light the wick by opening the cage, removing the glass heating element and setting the cotton wick ablaze. Ensure the glass heating element is returned. Failure to do so will cause a large amount of smoke and little heat output. Rotate the glass heating element back and forth a few times to ensure a good fit. After fifteen minutes, the glass heating element should be glowing red. Turn the knob to the normal range and adjust so the flames are slightly above the top of the heating element. The flames should encircle the top of the glass heating element, not cover it. To turn off, push the extinguisher switch. During operation, open a window a few centimetres to ensure good ventilation. Failure to provide adequate ventilation will result in carbon monoxide poisoning and death.
The large steel kettle and big Pan of water can be filled with water and placed on top of the heater to heat. It can be used for 'Mandi' Eco Bathing to save on fuel costs and be plain old green!!!!
