Making Waverly Welcoming

Making Waverly Welcoming

A Haven 740 Community Initiative

Haven 740 is working to make Waverly and the surrounding community a more welcoming and inclusive place for LGBTQIA+ people and allies.

Through this initiative, we are working with local businesses, organizations, students, artists, and community members to create more visible and welcoming spaces throughout our community.

Our goal is simple: to help people feel welcomed, respected, and included right here in our community.

Haven 740 Welcoming Spaces

One part of Making Waverly Welcoming is identifying and recognizing local businesses, organizations, and community spaces that are welcoming to LGBTQIA+ people.

Haven 740 is developing a community-based verification process for participating locations. Places that complete the process will receive an official Haven 740 Welcoming Space sticker to display at their location.

Our Verification Process

1. Owner/Manager Confirmation

The owner or manager confirms that the location welcomes LGBTQIA+ people and agrees to participate in the Haven 740 Welcoming Space program.

2. Community Feedback

Haven 740 collects feedback and experiences from members of the LGBTQIA+ community who have interacted with the location.

3. Anonymous Welcoming Checks

Haven 740 conducts two anonymous customer-experience checks at different times to help evaluate the welcoming experience.

All three parts of the process must be completed before a location receives the Haven 740 Welcoming Space designation.

The Haven 740 Welcoming Space Sticker

Locations that complete the verification process receive an official Haven 740 Welcoming Space sticker to display at their location.

The sticker allows community members to recognize participating locations when they see the Haven 740 logo displayed on a door or window.

Pride in the Community

Haven 740 is also working toward creating a public Pride-themed display in Waverly with the help of local students, artists, and community members.

The goal is to create something visible in our community that celebrates LGBTQIA+ people and shows that Pride has a place in Waverly.
