Have A Cuppa Manila started completely out of the blue and totally unplanned.
Around July 2020, I was cleaning and organizing my things (as what one does during the pandemic lockdown), and I found my collection of mugs. I've been collecting mugs way back in 2010, when I was in college.
The first mug that I could say really started my collection was the Mondrian Mug I found in one of the thrift shops in Tagaytay. From then on, I started becoming more interested in collecting mugs, and in ceramics in general.
Going back to 2020, I decided to open an Insta account for my collection. I thought that posting their photos would be a great idea to keep track of all of them. I then found the local ceramics tag on Instagram, and found some online shops that sold surplus ceramic items. This led me to opening a personal Insta shopping account (yes, that's a thing) and went on to looking for more mugs to add to my collection.
During this time of scouring the internet, I found this really cool mug I wanted to purchase abroad (that mug I'm holding in the photo!) and asked fellow ceramic lovers if they were also interested in purchasing, and so I opened a group order.
So, that was the start of all of this - my love (and of others) for ceramics. Since then, I have been partnering with ceramic manufacturers, suppliers, and artists worldwide.
I hope to be able to feature more ceramic pieces from different countries and show why it's such a special medium. Who knows, maybe my dream of opening a ceramics museum might actually happen. (just putting this out there in the universe ;) hahaha)
I'm really excited where my love for ceramics will take me, and I hope you join me for the ride! I may not know what's in store for the future, but I'm pretty sure it will be worthwhile - as all kinds of art (and functional at that!) always are. ✿
