Mr. Hasibul Hasan Ahmed is a passionate changemaker and emerging leader in the fields of social impact, environmental sustainability, and community empowerment. With a rich blend of academic excellence and hands-on experience, Hasib has championed diverse initiatives addressing pressing global challenges, particularly in WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), education equality, and disaster resilience.
He previously served as the Head of BRAC University's Social Impact Lab (SIL), where he empowers students to design and implement impactful projects through workshops and strategic mentorship. He has collaborated with globally recognized organizations, including the Millennium Campus Network, BRAC, Open Society University Network, Bard College- NY, JCI Dhaka Independent and Team Inclusion. He is also actively involved in crafting student-centric policies, representing feedback from over 19,000 students, to drive institutional improvement as part of Student Centricity Team.
Hasibul has led several transformative projects, such as EcoFlow Revive, which focused on water conservation and WASH education, and Resilience and Recovery 2.0, an initiative to provide micro-economic support to flood-affected families in rural Bangladesh. He also played a pivotal role in organizing the BRAC University Climate Conference 2024, a flagship event bringing together students, academics, and professionals to address pressing climate issues and foster sustainable solutions. The conference served as a platform to amplify youth-led climate actions and also rectified the target of Net-Zero in BRAC University campus that enabled the university to start a mission for going plastic-free by 2025. His efforts have directly impacted thousands of lives and contributed to achieving SDGs 3, 6, 8, 10, 13 and 14.
Academically, Hasib’s journey reflects his commitment to excellence. He is a participant in the Center for Policy Dialogue Lecture Series on “Clean Energy and Power: Moving Forward” and has conducted research on complex environmental issues, including the socio-ecological impacts of the Rampal Power Plant on the Sundarbans and the water distribution challenges in Korail, Dhaka. He has also contributed to the fields of machine learning and mental health through his research on TinyML for Emotion Detection in Voice Signals, where he evaluated and proposed algorithms for IoT wearable devices aimed at improving wellbeing and mental health. These endeavors honed his skills in GIS, community-based research, and applied machine learning.
He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management through the fully funded Erasmus Mundus Scholarship under the MESPOM Program, jointly offered by Central European University, University of the Aegean, Lund University, and The University of Manchester. Alongside his studies, he continues to remotely support EcoFlow Revive as Chief Adviser, contributing strategic guidance to sustain its impact.
Beyond academics and professional work, Hasib is a visionary leader with an entrepreneurial spirit. He founded We Can, a high-school student-led initiative in Bangladesh that empowered marginalized communities by providing WASH education, festival clothing, and food supplies. The project, which impacted over 1,000 lives, has inspired the next generation of community leaders.
With over five years of cumulative experience in social impact projects, Hasib combines academic rigor with practical expertise. He is driven by an unwavering belief in equity, sustainability, and community-driven development. He envisions a future where innovative ideas lead to lasting solutions, ensuring dignity and justice for all.
