My name is Harry Tobin, I am a 21 year old, digital marketing student. I am in my final year of college in IADT and I'm looking for freelance work with brands or a full time job as a marketing specialist. I don't do anything halfway and when helping create something for you it will be as perfect as I could ever make it.
I wanted a job that pays well but also allows me to express my creativity and give me problems to solve. Once I discovered marketing and data analytics, I went down a ton of rabbit holes because once I find something interesting I need to understand it, be great at it, in order to have as much fun with it as possible. I want to venture into freelance marketing when I can as I feel it gives me the most freedom with my abilities.
Another part I love is researching. I know a lot of people find that part boring but I love finding out new information on subjects I'm interested, by which I mean, many people much prefer just doing the act and getting it done and avoiding the hassle of information gathering but I love compiling and learning info on new unknown subjects. I have plenty of things I get bored by as well but if something catches my interest my I can't help but fall down a deep rabbit hole.
As stated before I am extremely creative. This is not a brag or anything, I am just wired to need that creativeness in my everyday life. This is one of the reasons I went into marketing and hopefully freelance marketing too. I wanted a job that allowed me to express my creativity and allow me money and time to focus on my personal ventures.
One of the interests I am proud of are my paintings. Painting is a way to unwind and clear my mind for a few hours. I never have a plan when I am painting I just put brush to canvas and see how it turns out. No need to think, just feel it out and never stop.
It is one of the most peaceful experiences you can take control of. I simply do this as a hobby so I'm not a serious painter or anything and don't sell my art but I am still proud of my artistry regardless of how others feel, because this is for me and no one else.
I also dive into other artisitic projects every now and then just as a small breather. These are often temporary projects but photos last a lifetime and it's nice to look back on them from time to time.
Reading is a HUGE part of my life. I have spent at least 4 hours a day reading for the last 6 years. I mainly read manga online and have read over 3000 stories, but I love the feeling of holding a novel in my hand and flipping the pages. Some of my favourite novels include "One Dark Window", "The Wheel Of Time" and the "Spooks" series. I have a full collection of these and want more.
I will leave my talk of reading here because I fear it woulld take over the whole page if I spoke further.
I was originally trying to be a chef when I was younger. When I was 15 I discovered a passion for baking, which quickly turned into a passion for cooking. I would cook for my entire family and grandparents for almost every night for 2 years. When I was 16 I started working in a professional kitchen. I worked every part of the kitchen and moved up the ranks until I was 17, working the harder position as a line cook, managing other chefs, keeping track of orders, cooking the main course dishes and making sure we didn't send low quality food out. They offered me a sponsorship for college but I had other plans and didn't want to be tied down inside a restaurant for 4 years between 19-23. I then worked in another restaurant and it wasn't the most pleasant experience but from my previous job I was more than used to chefs being irritable.
I realised that being a chef isn't a fun way of cooking for me. As long as I was working under someone I would just be preparing and making the same food over and over again and while at the start I was learning something new all the time, after a while it became very monotonous and I decided that I would just be a cook at home and have fun with it as a hobby rather than my full time job.
I don't like the idea of conforming to the stigma around tattoos in the workplace. They are traditional views. Tattoos aren't a symbol of unprofessionalism, they are a liberating way to express yourself artistically.
They are also a great talking point when trying to get to know your new employees and help with team building.
(This image was taken right after this tattoo was completed that's why it's red)
I love making and editing content and have my own YouTube channel but I prefer it to stay private and have that as my own little thing I enjoy, similar to many of my other hobbies. If you haven't figured it out already I love my 'me' time.
I love travelling and experiencing new cultures. I have traveled all over the world from many countries around Europe all the way to Japan.
I lived in Milan, Italy for 2 months and have some of the most fun I've ever had. Made friends from every corner of the earth and explored as much as I could of northern Italy. I have never felt more social and free than when I was there.
Just like most other people, I love animals.
Over the course of my life I have owned 2 dogs, 2 goats, and one cat.
Sadly the cat is the only pet left standing but I'm sure she will be standing for a long time.
Me and my family have always let our pets have as much freedom as we can. Our cat goes out into the countryside and hunts for mice and birds. She sleeps and eats inside but other than that she is a wild cat.
I would personally love another pet to own in my apartment in Dublin but I would feel bad confining it to the city instead of being able to run free in the countryside.
