about

The Harrop Fund was established in 2013 from a generous legacy. The gift was made with no purpose stipulated so the beneficiary pursues objectives known to have been close to the heart of the high principled and humanist testator.

The fund is directed by Epsom Solicitor Lionel Blackman under the trustees of the Board of the Charity.

The Harrop Fund is administered entirely privately and voluntarily. Only unavoidable out-of-pocket expenses incurred are drawn from the fund. It is intended to support no more than ten projects and missions every year. Grants offered will range as a guide from £500 to £5000. The Harrop Fund aims to demonstrate its value to the cause of the promotion of human rights by lawyers and others and may open to new donations to expand the Fund.

Successful applicants will consent to the publication of details of their supported work and to the provision of their contact details to potential donors to the Fund in the future.

If your application is of potential interest to the Harrop Fund the administrator will establish contact with you to pursue the matter further. Only online applications may be used to initiate an approach to the Harrop Fund.

Payment to successful applicants will usually be 50% in advance of the project or mission and the balance paid on completion. However, the appropriate payment regime will be considered for each case.
