I have many career choices in mind, but the career choice I mostly want to have on my resume is engineering. Engineering interests me because it's more of a hands-on program. It makes me think of what I can do to help improve or modify my world. It's not just hands-on but also relies on your mind's imagination. I want to learn to expand my mind to think more extensively about the future. I have an older brother who is named George. George did so much in this program to get to where he is now, he earned 9th in the nation while participating in this program and is currently doing big things. He just finished an internship in Houston for Exxon Mobile, and I feel like George inspired me to try this program. I can see how it fits me and my perspective. I believe that this program was right for me because I'm more of a visual person who works with his hands; I like to create and build upon what I work on. I wouldn't say engineering is something I love to do, but it does interest me. I am excited to see where it takes me after high school. I believe that this engineering program will shape me and help me achieve my career choice.
I am familiar with college courses because of my previous school, St. Marys Ryken. At Ryken, I took basic 9th-grade classes to start the year. For my sophomore year, I was going to shift my direction toward engineering. Most of my family works with wiring circuit boards to create a sercuity system. They are role models, and I can learn a lot from them. As my life goes on, I will take many courses and programs to help me get to where I'm familiar with what I'm working on in that career field. I am learning how to code Arduino circuits to make a microcontroller, so in the future, I will know how to code and make Arduino projects. I am working with a team, and we rotate between roles. One person codes, and the other inserts the circuits, so everyone learns what to do with coding/circuits. In the future, I will create a project that can benefit anyone.
I was formally an employee at Avis Rental car and i used to participate in boxing at Knowledge Boxing Center on Great Mills road. Currently, I am a member of the Leonardtown football team. These three activities shaped me for the world itself because they give lessons and allow me to learn something new daily. Avis shapes me to work as a team and gives me a visual of a businessman's perspective. However, boxing teaches me that your punches don't matter but how much you get hit. How much can you take, or can you keep moving under pressure? It gives you an "I'm not gonna quit" spirit. I have a phrase I say when I'm going to carry something out till the end; I say, "nothing is gonna stop me" because the only person who can hold me back is myself. You must first fail to enable yourself to succeed and learn from your failures to aim for greater heights. I learned from football about mental toughness. What it takes to push past your limits and be as tough as you can be. Leonardtown football is all mental. Brock Obama ran for congress and lost because he wasn't qualified... but did that stop Obama? NO! he aimed for greater heights and won the 2008 election for president. Brock Obama's example set a tone to keep pushing even if this world rejects us.
After high school, I plan to attend college and get my master's degree. As I said before, I'm interested in engineering, buts it's not something I love to do. I think it's cool to build and construct, but I want to find something I enjoy working hard for. Something I do all day with no problem; that allows me to get paid. Engineering is my best option and interest until I find that specific something I love to do. There's a difference between a hobby and a job; the question is can you turn that hobby into your career?
I feel like if I were to make engineering projects, that itself would be considered public services or making my community better. If my career of choice is engineering, I would have to think about what is something I can improve or modify. Something that people right now need to help them survive in life. I don't necessarily want to impact the world, but a different outlook on the world I live in. This world's problems, I feel, will never change because humans will be humans. We learn from the previous issue, and a new one starts up.
