This sensory table is changed about every other week to offer children new materials to explore. The children learn math and science concepts as they fill, dump, smooth, sort, discover, and engage with diverse materials.
This Area is shared with our rug space where we do Circle Time and Greeting Time. There are a variety of toys offered and rotated according to child interest. Puzzles of different difficulty levels are available, along with other small motor, math, science, music, or literature opportunities.
Not just a place to read! The Book Area is a homey place, perfect to indulge in soft textures, quiet toys, and yes... books. :)
There are a variety of blocks offered here, along with accessories to let imagination, resilience, trouble-shooting, and engineering blossom. In addition to unit blocks, the children can build with large hollow blocks, and special blocks like "rainbow blocks" or "mirror blocks." Accessories include corks, pegs, doll house people, animals, rocks, and more.
The House Area is a place to cook, role-play, throw parties, dress-up, care for pets, shop in markets, and more!
For preschoolers, the most meaningful thing about art is the CREATIVE PROCESS, not the product in the end. Here the children are given the freedom to use materials in ways that are personally interesting to them. They are offered markers, crayons, glue, scissors, pom-poms, play-doh, and more on a regular basis to experience satisfaction that only comes from artistic creativity!
We go outside every day at Harmony's House, rain or shine. We explore nature and exercise our gross motor muscles. We cook in the mud kitchen and chat on the Foozlephone. We make our own fun no matter the weather.
