By default, Zoom is set up to filter out background noises to optimize for speach. This works great for most meetings, but it does not work well for things like our happy hour or for music coaching. The main problem is when you start to play something, only a fraction of a second can be heard before zoom cuts the sound of the instrument entirely! This makes it difficult to determine if your sound is good or if you might be having problems.
Fortunately, Zoom can be configured easily to more music friendly settings. Below is a screenshot of how to configure your audio settings . Please try to use these settings when we are in sessions - it saves everyone a lot of time!
When you start a session you can get to the audio settings by clicking on the ^ symbol next to the microphone at the bottom left of your screen
Next select the Audio Settings located at the bottom of the drop down menu bar as shown on the right side here ------->
This will open up your audio settings panel
You should only have to change a couple of settings here to make things work. See the area circled in red. You may have to scroll down a bit to get to this section.
Click on Show in-meeting option to enable "Orignal Sound"
Click on Echo cancellation
That should take care of the audio issues . When you close this box using the arrow in the upper right of the screen you should see the new sound option on your Zoom session screen allowing you to use "Original Sound" or turn off that setting for normal meeting use.
This part is a bit counter intuitive - If the tag shows "Original Sound: Off " it means the music sound setting is on! This is really a button to turn the option on and off.
So - Please try to set these right after you join the session. It will make everyones experience much better! If we find other options I will post them here!
