“THEE ARTIST STATEMENT”
This is my definitive artist statement
Perhaps, I have written ten-thousand before but not anymore
Never before with these words
Because this is NOT just another artist statement
This is my authenticity bled into words
Check reset. Get your mind straight.
Blow it out your speakers!
Elevate as you contemplate.
My art is transformation.
Transformative
Informative
An amalgamation of images, allegories, and styles
Knowing no bounds
Knowing no presets
Art was and it is
The capturing of history through space and time
The documentation of life around me
As only my eyes can see.
A Creative Mad Scientist finally set free
Exploring this process outward from my perspective
Through the human connective
Love Laughter Pain Sunshine
Even some rain
Vermeer, Matisse, Loving, Baraka...They all edify my creativity
Thank you Almighty Creator for this gift given to me.
I was born to do this.
And do this I shall.
So, take this journey with me into the real
Passenger
Art lover
Patron
Friend.

“He is one of the hardest workers I have ever come across. Harlan is very daring and highly experimental”- Alvin Loving, American Abstract Expressionist Painter (1935-2005)
“Harlan is caring, articulate, intuitive, and a very talented artist in many media” - Gilda Snowden, African-American Artist, Educator and Mentor (1954-2014)
“Our family loves our hand-painted piece!” - Mr. and Mrs. Fred Parnell, Houston, TX-clients
“Harlan worked with our family on creating a piece of art that brought to life a family story. He incorporated elements from the story with an iconic song’s imagery and kept us involved along the way. We now have a terrific piece of commissioned work as the centerpiece of our home’s art, and we love to tell the story of how the piece came to life with Harlan’s help.”
- the O'Banion family, Atlanta, GA- clients
