the Department for Education
other government and local government funding sources
At Haringey Learns we have different ways you can learn, but it may vary from course to course.
In Wood Green Library
We listened to your feedback and made lots of changes to our centre for 23-24.
We are really happy to have our new classrooms, laptops in every room, top of the range hybrid classrooms and our open access Study Lounge. We have 11 classrooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor. You can access all classes by stairs or the lift. Please speak to us if you have mobility arrangements that we can help with.
Online
Some classes will be fully online. These will be taught through Microsoft Teams for Education.
You will not be studying alone though! You will have a digital classroom and a timetable to meet your tutor
and classmates. Good internet and a suitable device is essential to join any online classes.
You will be expected to have your camera on to join in the classes.
In class and online (blended or hybrid!)
Blended learning means some study will be online and some will be at Wood Green.
Your teachers will tell you how this will work and will support you to access the digital classroom.
Hybrid means you can choose to attend online or onsite but you must agree this with your
teacher and attend every lesson on Teams for Education platform with your camera on.
Tutor-led online courses
For blended and online classes, we have taken the best of our classes and put it online. In our tutor-led online courses, you will get to see and hear from your tutor and classmates in the same way that you would in an actual classroom. You have your timetable and 'come to class' as normal just without leaving your home!
How I will access my class material?
At Haringey Learns we use Teams for education and 'classroom' can accessed through the MS Teams app on your laptop, tablet or phone. In your class times you will use Teams and join a video call meeting when studying online. Your tutor will present new information and support your learning through this app.

As you embark on your academic journey, it's essential to understand the importance of academic integrity, especially in our rapidly evolving digital landscape. With the rise of AI tools, maintaining ethical standards in your studies has never been more crucial. In this blog, we will explore what it means to study responsibly, the significance of originality, and how to harness AI as a supportive tool rather than a shortcut.
What is Academic Integrity?
Academic integrity is the foundation of credible learning. It involves being honest and responsible in your academic work and ensuring that you give credit where it is due. This means avoiding plagiarism, which includes using someone else's work without proper acknowledgment—whether through copying, paraphrasing without citation, or submitting AI-generated content as your own. Such actions are serious breaches of academic integrity and can have significant consequences.
The Importance of Originality
Assignments are not just tasks to complete; they are opportunities for you to demonstrate your understanding, think critically, and reflect on what you've learned. Completing assignments independently not only helps you grow academically but also allows your instructors to provide meaningful feedback. Always strive for originality in your work. Cite your sources, focus on your unique perspectives, and provide references to support your ideas.
Using AI Ethically
AI can be a valuable resource when used responsibly. It’s perfectly acceptable to use AI for brainstorming, clarifying concepts, or checking grammar. However, it becomes problematic when you copy AI-generated answers or submit them as your own. Remember, AI should support your thinking, not replace it.
For example, if you’re struggling with a question and turn to an AI tool for assistance, the ethical approach is to understand the explanation provided and then write your own response. Avoid the temptation to copy the answer directly. Instead, reflect on the information and express it in your own words, providing specific examples of how you would approach similar situations.
Exam Conduct and Integrity
During exams, it's crucial to adhere to the rules designed to maintain a fair testing environment. All smartphones and smart devices must be turned off and stored away, and communication during exams is strictly prohibited. Any breach of these rules is considered malpractice and could result in your exam being invalidated. Upholding these standards is essential for ensuring a level playing field for all students.
The Path to Success
We expect honesty and originality in all your academic work. Be clear in demonstrating your understanding, and don’t hesitate to ask for help when needed. Remember, ethical use of technology and adherence to academic integrity will not only enrich your learning experience but also prepare you for your future career.
To help reinforce your understanding of these concepts, we encourage you to complete the quiz linked at the end of this blog. This will ensure you are well-equipped to uphold academic integrity in your studies.
As you continue your studies, engage in critical thinking and reflect on your learning. Academic integrity is not just about following rules; it’s about building skills that will serve you throughout your life. By using technology ethically and committing to original work, you contribute to a meaningful and honest educational journey.
Thank you for choosing Haringey Learns for your studies. Keep up the great work, and let’s make this academic year a successful one together!

Learning objective: You will understand the learner rep system and the different ways in which you can give your opinion about the service
Learner Voice
The learner voice is at the heart of what we do.
There are many ways for you to give your views. Your feedback helps to develop our service and makes Haringey Learns a great place to learn.
There are 3 main ways that you can help us to improve.
1. All classes nominate a class rep to come to meetings and share views and ideas on how the course is going.
2. All learners complete a course evaluation at the end of the course.
3. All learners are asked to take part in surveys and may be asked to give feedback to managers or inspectors
Why not be a Class Rep!
Some of the things you will do as Class Rep include…
•Be a spokesperson for the group – represent your class views.
•Talk to your tutor about any problems with the course.
•Attend one ‘focus group’ meeting per term (45 mins) with other students and managers.
As a Haringey Learns student we require you to complete the London Learner Survey by visiting the link below:
https://www.iffresearch.com/LLS/krdr
or by using the QR code:
You will need to provide your student number and complete the survey within the first 4 weeks of their course (on a short course that lasts less than 4 weeks, please ensure you complete the survey before the course finishes).
