Logo Animation
Quest is a freelance logo animation project completed for a private client. The client supplied the finished logo design; my role was solely the animation and motion work, translating a static mark into a polished reveal that matches the brand's minimal, high-end feel.
The project took about two weeks, working solo directly with the client.
Role:
Freelance Motion / Logo Animator
Tools:
• Adobe After Effects
• Adobe Photoshop
Responsibilities:
• Animating a client-provided static logo into a finished motion reveal
• Designing and timing the reveal sequence — stroke draw-on, light-trail glow, resolve to final mark
• Delivering a final rendered export
Reveal Timing & Light Trail
The animation opens on black, with the circular ring of the mark tracing itself on via a bright, comet-like light trail that travels along the stroke path before settling into the logo's cooler metallic finish. The wordmark and starburst accent resolve at the same moment the ring completes, so the whole mark reads as one continuous gesture rather than several elements arriving on separate timers. The full reveal plays out in roughly two seconds before holding on the finished mark — enough motion to feel deliberate and premium without dragging out the intro.
Picking the tool back up under a real deadline
This was my first dedicated logo animation project, and my first time back in After Effects in a while, so a real part of the two-week timeline was re-familiarizing myself with the tools — trim paths, glow effects, easing — rather than executing a plan I already knew how to run. It reinforced that motion work, even on something as contained as a single mark, is still a full design problem: getting the light-trail timing and glow intensity to feel controlled and premium rather than like a stock After Effects preset took several iteration passes, not one.
