You will not be notified of the status of your proposal unless the client rejects you or requests to interview you. I don't know anything about your niche but it is possible that some of your prospects are seeking proposals to find out how much the next step will cost and abandon their projects after getting that information. (e.g. They want to build something, loo for someone to work out the specs and then realize they can't afford it.) It is also possible that there are other freelancers on the platform who have a history of positive feedback that is more extensive than yours.

I think being new on Upwork is must like looking for a regular job. People tend to hire those who are already employed because this demonstrates "social proof" -- at least one other company trust the person to do the work. And, if you don't have that proof, then you are competing with others in a similar situation based on price.

ln, ls, find, and stat are the common ways of discovering and querying the filesystem for inodes. Then depending on what next you want to accomplish, many file, directory, archiving, and searching commands recognize inode values. Some may require a special -inum or --follow or equivalent option to specify inodes.

There is no concept of original file for hard-links. The file names just act as a reference count to the content on the disk pointed by the i-node (see 'ls -li original subfolder/hardlink'). So even if you delete the original file hardlink still points to the same content.

I have a "tracking" directory containing hardlinks to files/dirs in a second directory ( used for tracking moves/renames). If I delete something in the original folder, no disk space is freed as its hardlink still exists. So I want to clean up this "tracking" directory periodically. Therefore I need to find all files in it, that have a hardlink count of 1.

They are all Mac OS Extended.

Since I've been meaning to set up my backup I haven't seen a drive connected to DropBox, now I remember though when I connected to my personal account it saw the hard drives. But I have to use my Advanced account for this.

I try to buy local and from family farmers whenever possible. With veggies this is easy, but I am having a hard time finding meat on a regular basis. I see livestock farms all over the countryside, so why is it so hard to find meat from area farmers?

So, finding someplace to have your animals butchered locally is a significant limiting factor for farmers who want to direct market their meat products. Keep in mind also that many small facilities are limited by their size and staff, which limits the number of animals they can process. A small family-run operation may only be able to butcher 100 animals a week. In cases like this, farmers actually have to get their livestock on waiting lists. Add to the limited capacity of the plants the fact that many small farmers are raising niche products, like meat from heritage breeds or organic livestock, which means that they need to find a processing plant that can accommodate different sizes and shapes of animals and/or be certified organic. These additional requirements make it even harder to find a good fit in a processing plant and certainly limit the chances of finding a local facility.

I think that about wraps it up. Local meat can be hard to find because our current food system favors big livestock producers and big processing facilities. But as you can see, the combination of demanding consumers, tenacious farmers, and entrepreneurial thinking are helping turn the ship around steak by steak. Developing the infrastructure to keep processing local will help increase local supplies of meat and new legislation that ensure the safety of on-farm processing will do the same. So buy local meat when you can find it, and next time you are at the farmers market (or diner) just ask some area farmers the same question. There might be an exciting effort afoot in your neck of the woods that could use your enthusiasm and support!

When I try to run Recuva to recover data on my Seagate Free Agent Pro external hard drive connected to my laptop via USB, Recuva does not find my hard drive. I have tried all of the Recuva default location options (i.e., "I'm not sure," "On my media card," and "In a specific location."). My external hard drive does not show up in Windows 7 when I click on "Computer," but it does show up under Windows 7's "Devices and Printers," and also shows up Windows 7's "Computer Management."

Data recovery programs such as VirtualLab and Easeaus have successfully located my Seagate Free Agent Pro external hard drive, but those programs are not much help due to their freee edition limited functionability.

Thanks to all posters for the helpful suggestions. Fortunately, I just used TestDisk version 6.11, open source software, to find, recover and re-write my lost partition on my Seagate Free Agent Pro external hard drive. I simply followed the step-by-step instructions available via this link: _Step_By_Step. I had to utilized the "Deeper Search" option, but my drive now shows up under "Computer" in Windows 7 (My Computer in XP) and all of my files are listed and intact. Yes!

It's not hard. The only challenge you may come across is majority of the Jobs want you to have some type of experience. It's better to get into a internship in the field you are interested in. It's also a good way to network and help you get the experience you need to get a job right out of college.

Do not expect to get a criminial justice degree and have it immediately open doors for you. The degree gives you and understanding, but doesn't teach you how to do your job. Think of it as a piece of the job puzzle. Employers really want experience, your personality and a degree. Don't be afraid to take a job that is not your dream job to build your experience. Try to find an entry level job in the risk area, there are tons out there. Determine what avenue of criminal justice you want to pursue (this is a huge field) and try to find a job that touches on that. Experience combined with your degree will allow you to launch your career faster.

Every few days I come home to find I have lost a few gigs off my hard drive storage space, but cannot find what has been saved/installed to my hard drive. Is there a way to see everything that has been saved to my hard drive in the last few days? I am using Windows 7 with an internal hard drive.

I have come to the conclusion that someone is using and saving information to my hard drive or a hacker has got in to my pc and using it for storage or as extra processing power and space to run a programs.

One thing to consider is that system logs could be filling the hard drive space, although this is a lot of space for a system log to be filling. You may want to search your event logs for anything out of the ordinary.

Some versions of Windows (and probably other operating systems) allow you to search files by recent changes, and list all the files changed in the last x days. In Windows 7, you can open Windows Explorer (e.g. the folder), then click on the search field, then search by "date modified". You might want to also tell it to search your C drive (or whatever your hard drive is). This may help you get to the bottom of your mystery.

My Win 10 XPS 8920 stopped working. I pulled hard drive and it is OK. I have a new Dell xps 8940 SE and put Tbird on it but am not able to find my files from the old surviving hd which I put into an external enclosure. It looks like somehow the old profile got overwritten by the new install or something.

I find a abook.mab.bak history.mab.bak and impab.mab.bak and impab.mab.bak files from Sep 2020 which have a good bit of data in them, but the computer died late Jan 2022. So I'd like to find if there is another profile somewhere.

sfhowes THANK YOU... this made me realize that I forgot the change from .mab to .sqlite and so I was a bit baffled. Finally found the "rest of the story" / files under the previous profile which is no longer under the Tbird folder in Roaming... it is under the old profile name which for some reason my search was not finding despite showing hidden files.

Noob question, but how hard is it to find local truck driving jobs? I'm thinking getting my CDL but the lifestyle of an OTR driver living on the road doesn't really appeal to me. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

James, it is a good question, that honestly has different answers depending on where you live. Let me just start off by saying that there are some very real reasons why most places require at least one year of over the road experience, and it was touched on a little in some of the responses you already got. Local jobs require a lot of tight maneuvers in a big truck on a regular basis. This is where a new driver can really get themselves in trouble. You know it's not that hard cruising down the highway in a big truck, but when you start having to back that thing in to a tight loading dock off of a busy street with traffic being held up going both ways and anxious people trying to squeeze their way around you to get out of the same parking lot you are trying to get into, then it can get really difficult to do on a regular basis without causing some damage whether it is your fault or not. e24fc04721
