Let's Stop the Growing Number of Unwanted Animals!
The Palo Alto Humane Society provides spaying and neutering services in our community. These services are essential for controlling pet overpopulation and promoting responsible pet ownership. Spaying and neutering help prevent the birth of unwanted litters, reducing the number of unwanted animals in shelters and on the streets. Additionally, these procedures can benefit pets' health by reducing the risk of certain cancers and behavioral problems. The Palo Alto Humane Society aims to make these services accessible and affordable to more pets, contributing to a more humane community. At the national level, the spay/neuter rate in the United States is only 2-5%. This is an ongoing challenge to control pet overpopulation. An alarming statistic shows that a single adult female cat can give birth to as many as 100 kittens over a 7-year period, perpetuating the cycle of overpopulation and straining animal shelters and rescue organizations.
Spaying and neutering helps reduce pet overpopulation, which means more animals currently in our community will have access to, often time, limited but needed services.
